Hey Folks,
Thanks for Checking-in with Bethany UMC.
This Sunday, February 28, is the 2nd Sunday of Lent. I’m continuing my series on the Seven Last Words of Jesus. This week, my sermon is entitled, “Salvation Begins Now”. We will be looking at a conversation between Jesus and two criminals being crucified with him. The text is Luke 23:39-43(NV)
“39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?
41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.””
In the midst of his own suffering and pain, Jesus had the love and compassion to give the dying criminal the assurance of salvation-today. No waiting. He would be with Jesus. What a thought. Have you ever thought about death as “being with Jesus”? That’s what he promises his disciples. Join us Sunday as we explore this wonderful text of assurance of promise.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR NORMA BULL-This Saturday, February 27 at 1:00pm, there will be a celebration of life at Bethany for Norma Bull.

““Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
